6 rules Every Man should know about Wearing A Suit

Nothing will make you feel sharp elegant and powerful like wearing a suit however to feel that way you need to follow a few rules and make sure that you're not making the mistakes that we see a lot of guys out there make, so today we have put together a list of rules that a guy should follow when wearing a suit and of course how to fix them so you can look and feel amazing. It's not just about putting on a suit. Wearing one entails a great deal of effort.

It all comes down to a glove-like fit and meticulous attention to detail.

Don't get bogged down by the rules- if there's one thing that assures instant, positive attention everywhere you go, it's your own outfit.

If you follow the advice below, you'll never have a bad day again.

Guaranteed satisfaction!

1. Should not wear a smartwatch

You must have seen guys wearing an Apple watch with their suits. Wearing a smartwatch with your suit is not a good idea, alright the Apple watch it's just sporty, it's not elegant and it's not timeless like a good suit should be. There are some smart watches out there that look like a regular watch and you might be able to get away with those but if you have a regular watch at home and you want to wear a suit put those two together and leave the smart watch behind. Wearing a premium round dial wrist watch makes the suit looks super aesthetic and cool. These both when put together can give you the perfect gentleman look and you will outshine everyone at the party or occasion for which you are wearing the suit.

2. Trying other items instead of a shirt

Thinking that you always have to wear a shirt and a tie with a suit that is not true at all don't think that you guys always have to button up all the way up top here and then wear a tie of course that is the classic look right but if you want to experiment then go ahead experiment a little bit here. Let's not become the biggest fan of ties, to be honest, I think they're stuffy they make it hard to move my neck around they're pretty uncomfortable overall honestly just uncomfortable so whenever you can you should go for something like a nice t-shirt or even a nice turtleneck underneath my opinion turtlenecks are comfortable they're cozy but they're still elegant and dressy right so why not change it up a little bit an experiment right

If you want to wear just a t-shirt underneath you can but you have to make sure that you're wearing something nice I wouldn't wear your old v-neck right try something thicker more luxurious to go with your nice suit.

For buying plain T-shirts for your suit, have a look at this category of our website which has many T-shirts ranging in many colors.

3. Color and fabrics of a suit

Now, let's talk about the color and fabric of suits. If you're getting your first suit, you should definitely get a suit that is going to be multi-purpose that you can wear to weddings and you can wear to events, that you can wear to work. And, a navy suit for that fits all occasions.

If you already have a few suits and you're looking to buy more, there are two things you should really focus on.

  • That's your skin tone and
  • the season

If it's winter, you want to go with something heavier, like wool or even corduroy.

If it's summer, you want to go for light fabrics, like cotton, linen, or even a very thin, fine wool.

When talking about color, for the summer you want bright colors that pop and make a statement.

But for the winter and the fall, you want brown tones, navy tones, dark tones. It just generally looks good with the light of that season.

 4. Having a nice wallet

If you're gonna wear a suit please make sure that you're bringing a nice wallet with you. Holding out a Velcro wallet when you're wearing a suit is one of the worst mistakes you can ever make, they just don't go together instead what I would recommend is a nice leather wallet.

Ideally you want something that's a little bit thinner right that's not gonna be bulky inside your jacket pocket or you can just put it in your back pocket and it's not gonna be a huge bulge in the back which you definitely don't want, you want something classy something that won't embarrass you when you're pulling out to pay for that dinner date or when you're pulling your ID out at the bar or the club wherever.

You want cardholders are actually great with suits as well right they're small they fit right into your pockets easily and they carry everything without adding bulk to your fit number.

5. Minor details to notice

Now, let's talk about the details which can really bring your personality to light.

Starting from top to bottom, let's look at the lapels. The three most popular variations of the lapel are the Notch Lapel which is the classic one you see on most suits. Then you have the Peak Lapel which is the one I am wearing now A little bit more formal, a little bit more flashy. Then you have the Shawl Collar which is something you see traditionally at more formal events, like award shows or galas. But throw all those rules out the window. If you feel like one of those lapels matches your personality or your look best, don't be afraid to try it. Give it a go and see if it works with your outfit.

Let's talk about the buttons of the suit. We are going to be talking about single-breasted suits only, leaving the double-breasted suits behind. The most important part to remember is "do not button the bottom button". That's like a tongue twister. But seriously, don't button the bottom button. I recommend going with the two buttons. It's classic, it works on all styles. You can wear it to a formal event. You can make it less formal by dressing it down with some jeans. Good quality suits have functioning or working buttons.

6. Having the perfect fit

Probably the biggest mistake I see guys making is not getting their suits tailored, the most important thing when it comes to suits is how they fit as they need to fit perfectly and the sleeves are extremely important, the trousers right and this will change the look of the suit completely so make sure that you're getting them tailored properly so if you want one step further, get a suit that will fit you perfectly right from top to bottom.

I see a lot of guys getting a suit that's one size too big and the result of that is the shoulders of the suit flop over your natural shoulders and you get this dent. It's important that you are able to comfortably cross your arms without tearing the fabric across your back. Moving on down the suit, you want to make sure they fit at the stomach is right too.

The fabric of the jacket should drape the natural contour of your arms without bunching up, being too tight, or loose. The length of the sleeve is also crucial. You want to be comfortable showing at least a 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of your shirt below your suit.
